Family Cycle Day
2nd Annual Abington Trails Relay Race
October 14, 2001

A number of people came out for the event.. The day included traditional Family Cycle Day activities, such as the bike rodeo, bike parade, family walk, and family ride, with the Abington Trails relay race.
First place in the Abington Trails Relay Race went to the Guam team - a coed team of sophomores from Abington High School (time of 13:52). Second place went to the Wilson Cup team - a coed team from Highland Elementary School (time of 14:45). Third place went the Blue Angels team - a coed team from Abington Jr High School (time of 15:42).
The winner of the grand prize (a Raleigh M20 bicycle from Keswick Cycle) was Diane Misko, who is a teacher at Glenside-Weldon Elementary School.
Several local businesses and individuals sponsored the event: Abington Bank, Keswick Cycle Company, Craig A. Lerch, Jr. and Associates Real Estate, State Representative Ellen Bard, Elite Sounds, Casual Catering, and Big Top Beverage Market.
A number of local community organizations and companies provided monetary and organizational support and enthusiasm: Abington Art Center, Abington High School Key Club, Abington Education Association, Abington School District Parent Council, Abington Township Bureau of Parks & Recreation, Abington Educational Foundation, Citizens and Police Together, Abington Community Taskforce, Fresh Fields on the Fairway, and Cunnane Bicycle.
